Philip ranks among the best Irish flute & whistle players in Israel. Born in the city of Minsk in Belarus, his musical education began at the local music conservatory where for two years he took piano lessons. On immigrating to Israel, his interest shifted to Rock and later to writing electronic music. He has performed his compositions all over Israel and at festivals around the world.
Philip's first encounter with traditional Irish music was when he chanced upon Black Velvet's first album. He took up the simple-system Irish flute and was soon participating in the informal music sessions at Molly Bloom's Irish pub in Tel Aviv, where he still plays regularly. He later took lessons with some of the best-known flute players in Ireland and Brittany. He joined Black Velvet in 2010.
Philip's interest in music led him to the study of musicology at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music in Tel Aviv, and Baroque flute playing at the Tel Aviv Music Conservatory. Philip plays also with traditional Irish music trio, The Bloomers.
